Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Marc Bertrando, joined the GVSD on January 1,2013. He came to Garnet Valley from the West Chester Area School District inWest Chester, Pennsylvania where he served as a teacher,high school principal, and Assistant Superintendent for 20 years. He was also employed by the Brandywine School District in Wilmington, Delaware where he taught 7th grade language arts.
Dr. Bertrando earned his undergraduate degree and Masters Degree from the Pennsylvania State University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University. Dr. Bertrando jokes that he has "orbited" Garnet Valley his entire life as he grew-up in Unionville, worked in North Wilmington, and currently lives in West Chester with his wife, Monique and their three children.
