Before and After School Programming for K-5 Students
Dear Garnet Valley School District Families,
Our team is proud to announce that Garnet Valley has partnered with Champions to provide before and after-school programming for our K-5 students next school year. Champions’ accredited programs have more than 30 years of experience providing high-quality out-of-school-time services that balance education and fun in a safe, enriching environment. You may be more familiar with the name “Kindercare,” which is the child care center affiliated with the Champions program. Many of our families have utilized Kindercare’s services over the years, so we are confident that Champions will be able to provide a well-rounded, high quality experience for our children.
One change for some families this year will be the location of before and after school care. The program will be located exclusively at Concord Elementary School for the coming year. With the addition of full day kindergarten and relocation of a couple of other district programs to Bethel Springs this year, there simply wasn’t adequate space to provide an optimal experience for our children or for program staff. Parents will drop off at Concord in the morning and pick up from Concord in the afternoon. Garnet Valley’s transportation department will bus students from Concord to Bethel Springs in the morning and from Bethel Springs to Concord in the afternoon. Given that this is the first year for Champions and for consolidation of the program in one location, we’ll be looking for feedback from our families so that we can determine if this is the best fit for our community.
Children’s learning should continue when the school bell rings — and the Champions program ensures it will. Guided by passionate teachers, our students will have the chance to explore their curiosity and interests—in art, literacy, STEM and more-- and build confidence and community through hands-on projects and activities. Time will be set aside for homework support/completion; and healthy snacks and fitness opportunities will be offered each day.
