eSports Practice and Event Space
Because of the important benefits to students, esports has become a rapidly-growing presence in education and is being integrated into the future planning of many schools. According to the recent Extreme-eCampus News Esports Survey, 38% of schools have an esports competition facility and 24% are planning to implement one. These facilities often include high performance game workstations, audio/video capture capabilities, and an infrastructure designed to connect to broadcasting sites.
Currently, the Garnet Valley eSports team holds its practices and competitions in the high school library. For many reasons, the high school library is not the most effective space for our eSports team, especially when taking into account the popularity and successes of the program in our district. The images below are only renderings of what the eSports and Large Group Instruction (LGI) spaces might look like.
