Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Marc Bertrando, joined the Garnet Valley School District on January 1, 2013. He came to Garnet Valley from the West Chester Area School District in Pennsylvania, where he served as a teacher, high school principal, and an Assistant Superintendent for a total of 20 years. He was also previously employed by the Brandywine School District in Wilmington, Delaware where he taught 7th grade language arts.

Dr. Bertrando earned his undergraduate degree and Masters Degree from Pennsylvania State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University.

Dr. Bertrando jokes that he has "orbited" Garnet Valley his entire life as he grew-up in Unionville, worked in North Wilmington, and currently lives in West Chester with his wife and their three children.
