We would like to inform you of a very serious development regarding vaping in Pennsylvania. It was recently discovered that some vapes may be laced with Fentanyl, Xylazine/Tranq, or in some cases Heroin.
Caution: Accident
There was an accident on Route 1 between Stoney Bank and Valleybrook Roads. Currently, the district transportation fleet has no access to Walnut Hill, Brandywine Circle, Lydia Hollow, or Bonnie Lane. Emergency Management Services estimate that it could be close to 10AM before the issue is resolved.
Before and After School Programming for K-5 Students
Our team is proud to announce that Garnet Valley has partnered with Champions to provide before and after-school programming for our K-5 students next school year.
Bus Fire
Today, one of our school buses caught fire while it was receiving repairs to its electrical system at our maintenance garage. The bus maintenance garage is located behind the high school. Since the bus was proactively identified as needing repair, there were no students or drivers on board.
Masking–Revision to the Health and Safety Plan
Effective February 25, 2022, CDC does not require wearing of masks on buses or vans operated by public or private school systems, including early care and education/child care programs." As a result of this change, masks are encouraged but not required on Garnet Valley School District transportation.
2-14-22 Masking Update
February 22nd regular meeting Garnet Valley School Board will vote on revising the District’s current Health Plan to recommend but not require masking in District buildings.
Update on Masking
The next step for our district considers transitioning from masks required in all district buildings to masks recommended, thus giving students and employees a choice based on their comfort and needs.

1-7-2022 weather closing
All schools and offices will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 7, 2022. In addition to our school closures, our Test-to-Stay program will not operate again until Monday, January 10th.

Important Information about Masking
On Friday, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court struck down the Acting Secretary of Health’s school masking order. Therefore, the issue of masking now reverts to the District’s health and safety plan.

I wanted to make you aware of a situation that occurred at GVMS involving a terroristic threat made through social media. The individual(s) who are responsible for the post have been identified, and the Pennsylvania State Police are currently conducting the investigation.
11-30-2021 Masking Update

Masking Still Required in GVSD
The Acting Secretary of Health’s mask mandate would remain in effect until one of two things happens: (1) either the mandate expires, as it does on 1-17-22, or (2) the Pennsylvania Supreme Court rules on the issue prior to that date.
Criminal Activity Reported on Social Media
We are aware of a great deal of activity on social media regarding rumored abductions in our area. The victim contacted the Pennsylvania State Police and there is an ongoing investigation.
