Dear School Community,

Schools and offices will be closed tomorrow–Friday, December 23rd. This weather call is perhaps one of the most difficult I’ve had to make. I desperately want to give our youngest students the opportunity to have their holiday parties; however, our area is directly on the line where temperatures could drop as early as 10AM. The forecasts are also showing that we may get a quick shot of snow as the temperatures drop. In this scenario, our previously scheduled early dismissal would send students home just as the wet roads begin to freeze and conditions deteriorate. For these reasons, we have decided to make the safest decision by closing schools.

I have already spoken to our principals, and all have made alternative arrangements to reschedule “winter parties” some time after winter break. Again, I feel terrible that we have to close schools, but I believe it’s the safest thing to do. Although I feel like the Grinch right now, I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!!!!

Sincerely,

Dr. Marc Bertrando, Superintendent
